Wings Into The Masai Mara
A wildlife spectacle set in Masai Mara National Reserve
On our Masai Mara safari, we are taken to a different world. This is a world of majestic mammals, dazzling birds, sweeping grasslands, flat-topped trees and breathtaking sunsets. We also get to appreciate this world from the comforts of a traditional, luxury safari camp. Masai Mara National Reserve is probably the most famous wildlife park in Africa. It covers an area of 1500 square kilometres, is located at approximately 2000 metres above sea level and provides refuge for 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles, as well as 485 species of birds. 'The Mara' is also renowned for the part it plays in the seasonal migration from the Serengeti Plains, where herds of 200,000 zebras, 300,000 Thomson's gazelles and 1.3 million wildebeests move northwards following the annual rains.
This four day safari is an enticing way to experience the best of the Masai Mara in a short space of time! Our intimate safari camp takes only 24 guests and offers true ambience on a large private concession area just outside the reserve proper. The ensuite safari tents capture the true nature of the safari experience, whilst still providing a good level of comfort. We utilise 4WD safari vehicles for our game drives and enjoy guided game walks with our specialist local guides. Full-day game drives inside Masai Mara allow for better wildlife sightings, as we have the time and means to venture into the depths of the reserve. Our private concession area allows for game walks and evening game drives, both these activities are not allowed inside Masai Mara National Reserve itself. Furthermore, our camp is also partly owned by the neighbouring Masai village, ensuring your participation on this tour directly benefits the local community.

Wings Into The Masai Mara
Day 1
Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve
Meals Privided:
, Lunch, Dinner
Today you are met and transferred from your Nairobi hotel or from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Wilson Airport (Nairobi's domestic airport). At Wilson Airport you board your plane for the short one-hour flight to the Masai Mara airstrip, where you are met by our Masai Mara guide for the transfer to our camp. There are two flights daily from Wilson Airport (10am and 3pm). Depending on availaility we try to book you on the earlier flight, if you are staying overnight in Nairobi or if your international flight arrival into Nairobi allows you sufficient time to clear customs and be transferred to Wilson Airport. If you catch the earlier flight, you take lunch on arrival at the Mara Camp before partaking in an afternoon/evening game drive. If you catch the later flight, then you arrive at the Mara Camp in time for dinner.
Our camp in the Masai Mara is a classic luxury bush camp and is completely unfenced. The small dining area, open fireplace and tented accommodation ensures an intimate ambience. All tents are spacious, fully insect-proof and set in typical east African style, furnished with beds, linen, bedside tables and luggage storage racks. Bathrooms are ensuite and are equipped with a dresser, shower and ecologically friendly 'dry' toilet. There are canvas director's chairs in front of each tent and around the campfire. Most meals are taken al-fresco in a clearing overlooking the plains or in the spacious dining tent.
Day 2-3
Masai Mara National Reserve
Meals Privided:
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
The daily routine varies, as on some days picnics are taken out on extended half-day or full-day game drives. However a normal routine is as follows. We are woken at dawn for a light breakfast of tea or coffee and a biscuit. An early morning game drive involves setting off at sunrise and returning to the camp three to four hours later. Breakfast is a leisurely affair, taken outside in the morning sunlight. Lunch is also usually served al-fresco. During the heat of the day we are invited to relax and absorb the silence of the bush, punctuated only by intermittent bird calls. Alternatively we can also utilise the reference library, which has an excellent selection of books. An afternoon game drive departs around 4pm and returns after sunset. We then freshen up before joining other guests around the campfire for a pre-dinner drink. Dinner is served by candlelight in the dining tent. There is an opportunity to take a nightcap by the fire before retiring. Game-viewing are conducted on 4WD safari vehicles with opening roof hatches. There are also escorted bush walks available from the camp. All walks are escorted by a camp guide.
