Day 1
Arrival at Pauillac H-B
Reception at the hotel with documentation & bikes.
Day 2
Pauillac to Pauillac B&B 28 or 50 km
We suggest an easy circular ride through the vineyards of Lamarque and Margaux south of Pauillac.
Day 3
Pauillac to Soulac-sur-mer H-B 35 or 65 km
First you’ll cycle through the vineyards of Saint-Estephe then carry on northwards along the Gironde estuary to its end, to the quiet town of Soulac-sur-Mer. The short ride involves transport in the morning which is included in the holiday price.
Day 4
Soulac to Soulac B&B 22 km
Today you’ll cycle around the Grave headland. The view of the famous Cordouan Lighthouse, the colonial style houses on the sea front and the old train line will really make you go back in time. You can cross the Gironde estuary and have lunch in Royan or enjoy the beautiful sandy beach at Soulac.
Day 5
Soulac-sur-mer to Hourtin B&B 52 km
You’ll cycle south for the whole day. The map reading is simple. Between the ocean and the pine forests you’ll cycle mainly on car-free lanes. You’ll ride through the small town of Montalivet for a break before reaching Hourtin.
Day 6
Hourtin to Hourtin B&B 28 or 50 km
Today is a bit "a la carte". How far do you want to cycle and how long do you want to spend on the beach? We suggest a couple of rides giving you the chance to enjoy both the ocean and the Hourtin lake (the largest natural lake in France).
Again, you’ll cycle mainly on traffic free tracks.
Day 7
Hourtin to Pauillac B&B 35 km
You’ll leave the ocean and cycle eastwards. You’ll ride through the forest to Saint-Laurent-Medoc where you’ll discover some beautiful vineyards that go all the way to Pauillac.
Day 8
Trip ends in Pauillac after breakfast.
