Saturday 5 February
Christchurch
Today you will meet the group in Christchurch and settle in to your hotel. There are no activities planned for this day, except for a
group meeting in the evening.
Sunday 6 February
Christchurch - Kaikoura
After breakfast you will be checking out of your hotel and taking the Tranz Coastal train from Christchurch to Kaikoura. When you
arrive into Kaikoura you can settle into your accommodation and have the afternoon to explore this delightful town.

Monday 7 February
Kaikoura
A full day of walking is planned in the beautiful surrounding area.

Today you can enjoy another full day of walking.

Wednesday 9 February
Kaikoura - Picton
Today we will be leaving Kaikoura by mini coach and driving to Picton. On the way we will be stopping into Blenheim at Brancott
Winery (Montana) for a wine tasting.
On arrival into Picton we will settle into our accommodation and have the afternoon at leisure.

Thursday 10 February
Picton - Ship Cove to Endeavour Inlet - Furneaux Lodge (approx. 5 hours/14km)
After breakfast you will be transferred to the water taxi to Ship Cove where your walk Queen Charlotte Walk begins. This scenic &
historic reserve was a favourite anchorage for Captain Cook during his explorations in the 1770s. Experience virgin beech forest
at its best plus stunning views of the Queen Charlotte Sound. Take time to explore the waterfall walk and the Captain Cook
memorial and then set off on the track proper.

Friday 11 February
Endeavour Inlet to Camp Bay - Punga Cove (approx. 4 hours/12km)
Today’s mainly coastal walk takes you around the inlet through regenerating native bush to the call of bellbirds, fantails and other
NZ native birds. Pause at the head of the bay to learn more about antimony & the mining industry that thrived there in the 1880s.
Follow the main track onwards and into Big Bay before working your way towards Camp Bay and, five minutes on from there,
Punga Cove.

Saturday 12 February
Punga Cove to Torea Saddle - The Portage (approx. 8 hours/22.5km)
A challenging day on the ridgeline between Punga Cove & Torea Saddle near Portage. Truly grand vistas abound round every
corner – a wonderful reward indeed. Those who feel like a day’s rest can opt for a boat ride around the bays of the Queen
Charlotte Sound to Portage. (At additional cost)

Sunday 13 February
Rest Day at The Portage Resort Hotel
Today is your chance to rejuvenate and relax at The Portage Resort Hotel. We can arrange guided sea kayaking tours for those
interested.

Monday 14 February
Torea Saddle - The Portage to Anakiwa - Picton (approx.7 hours/20.5km)
Today we will ascend to the ridgeline once again, enjoying stunning views. Open farmland and a grand native bush section to
finish is a fitting finale. Today you return by boat from the Anakiwa Jetty to Picton to compete your Queen Charlotte Walk.
1 nights accommodation has been booked at the Picton Hotel.
